Refurbished? Not really.
I purchased a “refurbished” Dyson DC07 upright through Amazon, and am giving the unit a 3 star rating because of its condition upon receipt, not because of its performance. My wife does say its performance is far superior to the 11 amp Eureka vac it replaces. Given the price, I was expecting a SOLID body in good “reconditioned” condition, and was disappointed to find that the plastic body feels far less than “solid.” In fact, we had trouble getting the vac to stand upright as it should. Turns out the head of the vacuum was incorrectly aligned with the upper part and had to be bent and pushed into place (plastic, remember?). Also, one of the wheels had come off in the box, and we found that the keeper washer that was supposed to be on the axle wasn’t — just an ordinary washer that easily fell off along with the wheel. I still have to find a replacement slip-ring locking washer for the wheel. The unit was shipped with what seems to be “new” accessories. The body shows signs of use and looks pretty much like the 10-year-old Eureka it replaced.

In short, Dyson’s cyclone cleaning approach works, but the condition of the refurbished unit we received from Amazon was disappointing.

So far so good. I’ve had this for about a month now and it’s sucked up everything I’ve thrown at it. Good power, good quality, and cleanup is nice and simple. Defintely recommended, and at a GREAT price.

I’ve used everything from Hoover, Dust Devil, Bissel, Eureka, blah, blah, blah! I LOVE this vacuum! It does exactly what it says and it DOES NOT lose suction!

5 STARS FROM A DEMANDING FAMILY
We bought this Dyson 3 years ago when Dyson first started coming to the U.S…We really stretched the budget at the time to buy it at full price, and I did feel a little guilty…but now 3 years later, I never regret for ONE MINUTE that we invested in this vacuum. We have 4 kids and 2 cats and use it every day.

We are hard on appliances, and don’t have time to ‘baby’ things…we had a tear in the hose in the first year, I fully expected it given how hard we were on it, and Dyson sent us a new hose in 3 days…my son broke one of the attachments off, and they sent us a new one, fast, free of charge. NOTE that they have since redesigned how the attachments connect ‘on board’ so they don’t break off like they used to. No biggie.

After 3 years, we still have the original Hepa filters and the suction is as great as the day we brought it home. We go from wall-to-wall carpet (on carpet setting) to wood, tile and antique oriental rugs (all those on bare floors setting) with a flick of the switch.

I expect a lot from the things that we buy…and I have grown weary of buying things that don’t do what they say, or don’t last. Since we bought this, we have moved into a larger home, and the Dyson is never really put away, just moved from room to room, floor to floor. It is my dream to purchase another one for the 2nd floor. The weird thing is that my husband said he had the exact same idea…so we’ll be giving eachother another Dyson for our anniversary. Seriously, it really boils down to the little day-to-day conveniences in life. We’re happy, and our house is cleaner, the air is cleaner, and the floors look great.
