Sanyo SC-WP100 Bagless Vacuum with Electrostatic Dusting Cloth Reviews
Not for ceramic tile floors
This vac is great for vinyl tile and hardwood floors but doesn’t work very well for ceramic tile floors with grout lines. I have to go over each area at least 2 times to get everything. The “on board crevice tool” is a great idea, but mine broke where it connects to the vacuum after using it 5 times. This will stay in my basement where I have smooth floors and I’ll go back to my canister vac to do the ceramic tile.
Power switch doesn’t always work
The power switch works inconsistantly – after using for two months. Best chance of power staying on is to hold the swtich down while vacuuming. It blows so much air that you have to sneak up on dust bunnies or they fly away. It doesn’t work well on tile floors, leaving dirt in the grout unless you repeatedly go over the floor. I replaced it with a Hoover S2220 that I’m very happy with.
Good product, but if you ever need support…
The vacuum is quite good. It’s light and very easy to maneuver and has good power considering its size. Yes, the power cord is a little short but all you’ll need to do is buy an extension cord dedicated to the cleaner.
The problem is Sanyo’s Service…
The little plastic pin that holds the nozzle in place broke after a few times of using the crevice tool. It is such an easy part to identify and replace that I thought I could get a replacement shipped to me. Not really…
I quickly discovered that I had no choice but to bring the appliance in for repair. And that the closest service center was more than 50 miles away.
I called the shop hoping they could order the part in advance but no way. I had to go there and leave the appliance with them.
It took almost 4 weeks to get it repaired…
Next time I have a problem with it I will seriously considering discontinuing it and buying a new one from another manufacturer.
I strongly recommend to check where is the closest service center before you buy any Sanyo appliance!
Power switch is annoying…
This vacuum is easy to use and great for quick pick ups. Very lightweight, easy to assemble, and nice looking as well (the cord length doesn’t bother me since I live in cramped quarters). However, I agree that the on/off button is too sensitive. I thought perhaps I had accidently knocked the switch, but the switch is just too sensitive. I’m thinking the vibrations from the vaccum jiggle the switch back to off – the switch moves to the half way point and then the vacuum shuts down. I vacuumed for approx. 10 minutes, and the vacuum shut down at least 8 times.
The suction power is fine and it picked up all the hair and dust in the apartment. Just be prepared to tape the on/off switch or find a stopper of some sort so the vacuum will stay on.
Good for Floors
This vacuum is lightweight, convenient to move around, and nicely designed. It picks-up very well from bare wood and tile floors. However, the suction is not strong enough to clean my low-pile area rugs. I have two cats and a dog so there is dust and pet hair that is easily removed from the floors but not from the rugs. It is still a very worthwhile $37.99 since it is more valuable to use than a regular dustbuster product.
